ELLIS, Robert Thomas.
Amateur.
Born at Franklands, Burgess Hill, Sussex, 16th September 1853.
Died at Stone, Kent, 23rd September 1937.
Educated at Brighton and Hurstpierpoint. He first appeared for Sussex at cricket in 1877 and in 1880 he was captain and manager of the Sussex CCC. In total he played for Sussex in 65 first-class matches.
He lived for a long time at Beddingham, near Lewes, Sussex but in 1882 moved to Claremont House, Portslade, near Brighton, Sussex. Ill-health brought an early end to his first-class cricket career.
No trace of him could be found in the 1881 Census.
