Wat Jones was a policeman in the Swansea Valleys, who had a fine reputation as a fast bowler for Pontardawe, Pontardulais and Clydach.

He might have appeared for Glamorgan before the Second World War, but he eventually made his county debut in 1946, playing against Lancashire at the Arms Park. The following season, he took 7/92 against Kent at Newport, but his duties as a policeman prevented him from playing more often.
