by Dr.A.K.Hignell

Player:RW Boon

Ronnie Boon was an outstanding athlete, winning the 1929 Welsh Sprint Championships over 200 metres, as well as playing 12 times on the wing for the Welsh rugby team between 1929 and 1932.

Boon also played cricket for Barry and Cardiff, and in 1931 and 1932 he made a total of eleven appearances for Glamorgan. His swift ground fielding, as well as his steady batting, impressed the county`s selectors, but he subsequently moved away from South Wales to pursue a career as a Games teacher. He worked in London, Scotland and North Wales, before later becoming the Chairman of the South Glamorgan Education Committee.
