Lancashire 1867-68
Born 5.2.1840 Bedale, Yorkshire.
Died 6.3.1898 Chorlton, Manchester.
 
The younger brother of Roger Iddison, who captained both Lancashire and Yorkshire. 
A small man of 5ft 6 inches and weighing 10 stone, he was a middle order right-hand batsman who usually fielded at point. 
His first professional engagement was at Bowdon, Cheshire in 1859 and 1860. From 1861 to 1863 he was at the Rusholm Club, Manchester, moving to Enfield, Blackburn, for 1864. In 1865 and 1866 he was back with the Rusholm Club. After that time he played as an amateur with the Longsight Club for many years. 
His only match at Lord's was for the Colts and Prfessionals who have never appeared at Lord's or The Oval against the M.C.C. on 23rd and 24th May 1864, when he scored 5 and 0 and took no wickets for 19 runs. 
His first match for Lancashire was against Yorkshire at Old Trafford on 27th to 29th June 1867, when he scored 10 and 2 and took 0/28 and 1/33. He also played in the return match at Middlesborough on 2nd and 3rd September, scoring 4 and 19. In 1868 he turned out twice against Nottinghamshire. 
In the 1860s he was in partnership with his brother running a sports shop in Manchester. By 1875 he was reported to be a dealer in paper and packing materials. 
At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at 26 Eastnor Street, Stretford, aged 41, a traveller in linens and woollens, with his wife Sarah Ann aged 40. They have five sons and five daughters.
