Kasim was introduced to the game by his father who, along with his brothers who also played, have now retired from cricket. An occasional soccer player, Kasim was part of the U17 European Championship winning team in 2003. He has captained the Scotland at U13, U15 and U17 levels and is vice-captain of the squad. A member of the Cydesdale club, he is joined in the squad by team-mates Andrew Hislop and Ross Lyons. He views this competition as a further step in his cricket education and is determined to make the most of the opportunity. Kasim lists Brian Lara (West Indies) and Jonty Rhodes (South Africa) as his favourite cricketers because “they are brilliant”.
