Summary of day 2

When Lancashire surpassed the follow-on target of 220 in the 66th over, the inevitable defeat was merely placed on hold. On a slow, low turning wicket, the home side were unable to cope with Doshi's spin, although it has to be said that several batsmen gifted their wicket to Surrey. Carl Hooper recorded his second nought in four innings (Just 6 runs from 4 innings). Schofield and Chapple added 114 for the 6th wicket, with both players attaining fifties. Schofield required a runner (Chilton) to aid him through the latter part of his innings after being hit on the toe by Azhar Mahmood. Keedy's departure for 4 in the 81st over left Lancashire trailing by 91 runs. Surrey negotiated 5 overs to close on 8 without loss, a lead of 99 runs, which would be worth double on most other pitches.
