Only 94 balls play was possible on the second day of this relegation encounter between Worcestershire and Lancashire due to heavy persistent morning rain. Once the poor weather abated, the ground staff spent several hours attempting to make the outfield playable. Eventually, play started at 2.45pm with Lancashire electing to chase a fifth batting point rather than employ an early declaration. The visitors passed 400 in the nick of time as the rain returned and washed out any further cricket. This was particularly annoying as the sunshine returned late on, but the ground staff could not repeat their early heroics in time before the official close time of 6pm.
