Graeme Smith has to be credited for removing the tag of chokers from the South African side. From a team that always faltered at the most crucial juncture, Smith with his leadership qualities converted it into a world beating unit. Having been made the skipper at a young age of 22, Smith took his time to come of age but then once he was up to it, it seemed he was cut-to-made for the job. From world record chases to defeating Australia in Australia, this team has done it all in the span of the last two years and Smith has been instrumental in all this. The left-hander is a class batsman at the top-of-the-order and can be really daangerous for the likes of new ball bowlers. His good foot movement and the ability to dance down the track and hit the spinners out of the ground is flabbergasting. Alongside being a more than a good batsman, Smith also rolls down tweaky off-cutters and has a reputation of breaking partnerships. He is also a safe catcher in the slips and a very good fielder on the ground. It was under Smith that the South Africa could not come up with a stellar show in the first edition of the T20 World Cup in South Africa and the skipper would be definitey looking for a reversal of fortunes this time around.
