Post the heady Ashes 2005, the English side suffered huge setbacks as their potent bowling attack fell apart due to various reasons. A search for a spearhead began and soon James Anderson took up the mantle though after initial reluctance. With a beautiful side-on action, Anderson swings the red or the white cricket ball at will with the out-swing being his more devastating one. Slowly but surely he began to add more venom to his bowling as an inswinging yorker, a vicious inswinger and a bouncer began to appear in his armoury.

Under the regime of Strauss and Flower, the Lancashire bowler has being given the responsibility of mentoring his bowling partners which consists of greenhorns. Anderson has reveled in this role recently and whenever Strauss is in need of a breakthrough it is Anderson who is given the task.
