2013 profile
Australian Dirk Nannes joins Glamorgan in 2013 for their Twenty20 campaign. The 36 year-old left-arm seamer has an outstanding record in this shorter form of the game, having also played in fifteen International T20 matches for Australia, besides making a couple of appearances for Holland the country of birth of his parents.

Dirk already has extensive experience of Twenty20 cricket for English counties having previously played for Middlesex (2008), Nottinghamshire (2010) and Surrey (2011-12), besides being the leading wicket-taker in the 2010 Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean with a haul of 14 wickets at just 13 runs apiece. In the last few years, he has become a Twenty20 specialist having played worldwide for, amongst others, Victoria, Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder in Australia, Canterbury in New Zealand, the Delhi Daredevils and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, the Sylhet Royals in Bangladesh, Basnahira Cricket Dundee in Sri Lanka and the Mountaineers in Zimbabwe.
During his twenties, Dirk was also a talented skier and, after competing successfully at World Cup skiing events, he narrowly missed out on selection for the Australian Winter Olympics squad. But skiing's loss was cricket's gain as Dirk, after several successful years in club cricket in the U.K. and grade cricket in Australia, duly made his first-class debut at the age of 29 for Victoria in the 2005/06 season. He subsequently took 22 Pura Cup wickets besides being the spearhead to the Middlesex attack when they lifted the Twenty20 crown in 2008.(Article: The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author only.
