Richard Grant is a promising all-rounder from Neath who made his Championship debut in 2005 after having featured in several of Glamorgan`s one-day games in the previous summers.

The right-handed batsman and seam bowler followed in the footsteps of his elder brother Gareth by playing in the Glamorgan 2nd XI in 2001. The following year, Richard made his 1st XI debut in the friendly against Scotland at Cardiff.

After further impressive performances for the 2nd XI in 2003 and 2004, he appeared in two totesport League matches, against Warwickshire and Essex at the end of the 2004 season.

He made his first-class debut midway through the 2005 season, and in the Twenty20 competition, Grant took 4/38 at Worcester - the best-ever bowling figures in the competition by a Glamorgan bowler. He also delivered useful spells in other one-day games, and he is highly regarded as a `death` bowler.
