by Andrew Hignell

Player:KD Tudge

DateLine: 4th August 2006

Kyle Tudge made his debut, at the age of 19 years, for Glamorgan in their Liverpool Victoria County Championship match against Worcestershire at the Rhos-on-Sea ground in Colwyn Bay in August 2006. The youngster`s first-class debut followed a knee injury to Dean Cosker, with the left-arm spinner from Blackwood CC called into the Welsh county`s line-up.

Tudge first played for Glamorgan 2nd XI debut in 2005 whilst still at Monmouth School, and in June 2006, he produced an impressive performance in the win over Somerset 2nd XI, returning figures of 3/27 in the 153-run victory at Taunton. He also performed with credit for the Wales Minor County team after leaving Monmouth School before joining the Lord`s groundstaff, and playing for the MCC Young Professionals.

Tudge is one of several talented young players to emerge from the Glamorgan and Wales Academy, supported by the Elite Cymru scheme. He is also the latest in an illustrious line of players from Monmouth School to play for the Glamorgan 1st XI, including Steve James, Trevor Arnott, Keith Jarrett, Huw Waters, and Andrew Jones, the son of Glamorgan legend Alan, who played once for the county in 1993, and is now a member of staff at the famous public school.
