King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, 1925 - Lieutenant; 1934 - Captain; Co.Officer at Sandhurst. 2nd World War - Commanded King's Own Yorkshire Light Industry 1942. 161 Brigade (Burma) 1944-45; Brigadier in Command of 3rd Infantry Brigade District (Palestine & Egypt) 1946 - 1949.
