Record Run Chase Brings in Valuable Points to Kerala
by KCA

Scorecard:Kerala v Goa

DateLine: 6th November 2008

A resolute show by the Kerala batsmen helped surpassing the team's previous record of successful first innings run chase and adding 3 valuable points in its Ranji Trophy Plate League tally in the end. The previous record was set by the team in 1986-87 against Andhra at Srikakulam, where the chase was for 403 runs. Incidentally, the present Coach V Hariharan was also part of the then side.

The Kerala innings also saw an obnoxious fate where the team managed to equal the First Class record of 8 batsmen being given out LBW in the same innings. This is only the fifth such occurrence in the history of First Class Cricket.

The match was drawn, but not before the charged up Kerla bowlers delivered the vicious blow to the Goan lineup three times in quick succession. The Visitors were 69/3 when the stumps were drawn finally for the match.

Rohan Prem scored his 2nd First Class century early in the day and went on to find his career best score of 138 runs. KJ Rakesh became the 221st player capped for Kerala in First Class matches when he made his debut in the match.

Kerala will now take on Himachal Pradesh at Dharamshala starting on the 10th of this month.
