Shaun Marsh is the son of former Australian opener Geoff Marsh, spending a lot of time traveling with him when he was young. Under his father’s tutelage, he has developed into one of the finest young batsmen to emerge from Down Under. He has been awarded for his consistent performances with the bat, with a trip to the Carribean with the national ODI for the series in West Indies in 2008. The past domestic summer earned him the title of Western Australia's Player of the Year and thus a central contract, labeling him a long term top order batsman. He finished the season as the Warriors' leading one-day run scorer with 318 at 39.75, the top Twenty20 batsman in the country with 290 at 58, and a solid Pura Cup contributor with 663 at 60.27. He was complimented by the Waugh twins when he got his maiden First Class ton, and was part of the Australia Under-19 squad that won the World Cup in 2002. Marsh is known to have a wild side like almost all Australian players, as he was suspended by the state for two games following a drinking session. Tom Moody’s keen eye grabbed him to play in the IPL for Mohali based franchise, Kings XI Punjab and he didn’t disappoint, winning the ‘Orange Cap’ for being the tournament’s leading run scorer with 616 runs from just 11 matches at 68.44, comprising a century and five half centuries.
