In "Fresh Light on Pre-Victorian Cricket" by G B Buckley.
The title of the match has alternatively been reported as Hornchurch v Marylebone, but the Hornchurch club was the organiser of Essex matches in parallel with Hambledon/Hampshire and Oldfield/Berkshire.
The brothers Darnley and Bligh made their debut appearances in this game. They were noted patrons of the sport through the 1790s and Bligh continued to play frequently into the 19th Century.
Higgs who made two appearances for Essex in 1789 was also listed as Hicks.
Captain Lloyd who took two catches was evidently a substitute. He appeared for Berkshire v MCC in 1792.
