Notes
--> W Edmeads made his debut in first-class matches
--> J Minchin (2) passed his previous highest score of 38 in first-class matches
--> W Edmeads made his last appearance in first-class matches
--> T Quiddington (2) passed his previous highest score of 11 in first-class matches
--> T Brett achieved his best innings bowling analysis in first-class matches in the Surrey first innings (previous best was 5-?)

A contemporary handwritten score in Chertsey Museum (local to Laleham Burway) gives a much better order for Hampshire, and correctly cites the name of the match promoter, Mr Porter (SB says 'Barber'). Edmeads is given as 'Edmeads, jun' in SB, i.e. presumably William rather than the usual man, John. Surrey had Miller and Minchin as given men. Dorset made a hit for 5.
