Twelfth men: PL Gregory (Queensland Country), None named (West Indies) Match notes Some three and one half inches of rain overnight swamped the ground and it was doubtful there would be any play. However a team of volunteers worked diligently and removed much of the water with the result that it was announced at 12.30 p.m. that play would commence at one o'clock. The West Indian batsmen were uncomfortable against the opening attack of Minniecon and Martin. Minniecon failed to capture a wicket in his first spell but later dismissed DL Murray and Inshan Ali with successive balls. Baichan played a very restrained innings before being sixth out at 110. Klein began confidently for Queensland Country and Phillips followed in an attacking mood. McNee played a very cautious innings and was still there at stumps, gaining his team a draw. Attendance for the day was stated to be about 5,000. Play lasted some five hours. Source: Cairns Post; Q.C.C.A. Annual Report; Q.C.A. Annual Report.
