Twelfth men: J Coats (Queensland Colts), JG Lush (New South Wales Colts) Match notes When play was able to get under way White, on winning the toss, had no hesitation in sending Queensland to bat and his decision was well justified when the home team was dismissed in 85 minutes of play. Turich and O'Connor showed good technique in the difficult batting conditions. JE Walsh achieved a hat trick in dismissing Hubbard, Wyeth and Growder in three balls. Batting 85 minutes to stumps New South Wales had gained a first innings lead, Robinson having batted 71 minutes. On the third day Robinson left soon after the one hundred arrived having batted 119 minutes and hit five fours. Jackson batted 88 minutes for his 33. O'Connor, who had bowled poorly on the first day of play, bowled very well in the latter part of the New South Wales innings and contributed much to the success of Wyeth. Turich and Honour opened with 22 before Govan came on at 2.45 p.m. and had immediate success. He bowled throughout the innings until the final wicket fell at five o'clock. The only batsmen to make an impression were Hubbard (21 minutes - three fours); Tallon (one hour - five fours) and Wyeth (43 minutes - three fours). The nineteen year old Payne gave a very good display with the gloves. KJ Boag was selected in the Queensland team but withdrew due to the serious illness of his father, GW Lockie coming in to the team.
