Twelfth men: MW Miles (Queensland Colts), RH Madden (New South Wales Colts)
Match notes
Queensland was quite outplayed in this first match of the post war period. By the close of the first day New South Wales was well in control and late on the second afternoon closed their innings to allow the paceman a further opportunity to break through the batting, which they did most effectively. On the second day KM Jack injured a finger fielding a hard hit from Briggs and Miles fielded in his place, a youthful Peter Burge becoming the acting twelfth man. MW Miles was an original inclusion in the Queensland Colts team with SM Small the nominated twelfth man. Miles was unable to rearrange a University examination scheduled for the first day of the match and so swapped places with Small for the game.
