Our thanks to Arthur Haygarth for collecting the information and to Roger Heavens for providing this scorecard which was first published in Arthur Haygarth's Cricket Scores and Biographies Volume 16. According to a note left by FS Ashley-Cooper the Hon C Hardinge, who appeared in this match, may have been the same Hardinge who was appointed British Ambassador at St. Petersburg in 1904.
In another account in the second innings of Mr. Jarvis's side, Cotton is c Lyttelton b Boulton; also on Mr. Lyttelton's side Payne scores 1, Peabody 0, and the total is 197.
