Our thanks to Arthur Haygarth for collecting the information and to Roger Heavens for providing this scorecard which was first published in Arthur Haygarth's Cricket Scores and Biographies Volume 16. Copies of the book can be obtained from http://booksoncricket.net . Additions or corrections to this scorecard would be gratefully received. Source records that the Yorkshire Colts played for the following clubs: Baildon (F Lee, Moseley), Birstall (Walker), Bradford (Rochfort), Castleford (Horner), Driffield (CJ Young), Elland (Aspinall), Farsley (Grimshaw), Greasbrough (Rawlin), Holbeck (J Lee), Huddersfield (Lockwood), Kirby over Bierlow (B Young), Lockwood (GH Lee), New Wortley (Robinson), Parkgate (Hawke), Penistone (Bitcliffe, Fearnley), Saltaire (Ellis, Fox), Scarborough (Taylor), Sheffield (Cummings, Turner), Todmorden (Horsfall), Windhill (Mellor), Wortley (Mayes) and Yeadon (Peate). Source records that no less than 77 aspirants to cricket fame sent in their names to play in this Yorkshire trial match. The selection therefore was not easy. The fourth or last innings was given correctly as above in The Field, but in all other sporting papers a completed innings amounting to 62 was inserted, because more play continued after the completion of the match. That is no reason for it to be inserted in the score of the match which was finished as above given. [Lee of the Yorkshire Colts was shown c Ratcliffe in his second innings and Peate of Yeadon given the second initial J. in the MS but the above is thought to be correct.]
