Victoria, the tail enders in the first Section and New York Cricket Club, the leaders of the second Section were ordered by the Committee to place a this game to decide who would play in Section one next season. However the darkness on the day was instrumental in the game being drawn the latter club having out played the former and there had to be a further game to decide the place. The game was due to be replayed on November 17 but due to the failure of the secretary of the New York Cricket Club failing to reply to the letter from the secretary of the Victoria Club the game was not played. In the next season schedules neither team took part in any competitions.
