When Munasinghe was adjudged lbw in the 2nd innings, the field was invaded in protest at the decision and umpire Pushparajah was attacked by non-striker Liyanage with his bat. Liyanage received a 10-year ban and Munasinghe a 1-year ban, later extended to 2 years. The match was declared abandoned and neither team received any points.
