| Zimbabwe won the toss and will bowl | |||
| Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the seventeenth match in the 2007 Cricket World Cup and it will be an emotional day at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica as mourning Pakistan take on Zimbabwe in Group D. | |||
| It has been a traumatic week for Pakistan. Their coach Bob Woolmer has died, the autopsy is still inconclusive as to the cause, the players have been hit particularly hard by the news and some have barely stopped grieving for him - it is thought some have not eaten for two days. Couple to this Inzamam-ul-Haq's retirement from one-day international cricket after the World Cup and his stepping down as Test captain, the selectors have resigned and the forore back home to Pakistan's dismal performance, which sees them out of the tournament already, has not gone down well. | |||
| Hardly an ideal preparation for this game that Zimbabwe will be wanting to win to ensure they have a chance of qualifying for the Super Eights instead of surprise package Ireland. | |||
| Pakistan will, obviously, be out to win their final game of the tournament as a mark of respect for their outstanding coach but Zimbabwe have to win themselves so there will be no time for sentimentality for the men in red. | |||
| The seventeenth game of the tournament, at Sabina Park, is the 24th match to be staged here since 1984. The first game, in April of that year, saw West Indies trounce Australia by 9 wickets and they went on to win 11 for the first 12 games they played here. But their opening day win over Pakistan was just their second since 2001. This will be the fifth time Zimbabwe have travelled to Sabina and they are still searching for their first win. | |||
| This will be the 35th time that Pakistan have played against Zimbabwe. The scoreline will hardly fill Kevin Curran's side with plenty of confidence. Played 34 and Pakistan hold a 30-2 lead with 1 tie and one no-result. Zimbabwe's last win over the men in green was right back in November 1998 at Sheikhupura in their 18th meeting. Bar the no-result, it's wins for Pakistan ever since. | |||
| Richie Richardson is the leading run-scorer on this ground with 418 in 8 games (average 69.66) while Curtly Ambrose holds the record for the most wickets taken with 12 from 7 games (average 17.41). | |||
| The highest individual score for Pakistan v Zimbabwe is 141* by Mohammad Yousuf at Bulawayo in 2002/2003. | |||
| The highest individual score for Zimbabwe v Pakistan is 105* by Grant Flower at Harare in 2002/2003. | |||
| The best bowling performance for Pakistan v Zimbabwe is 5-15 by Wasim Akram in Karachi in 1993/1994. | |||
| The best bowling performance for Zimbabwe v Pakistan is 4-18 by Heath Streak in Sharjah in 1996/1997. | |||
| South African Brian Jerling is joined by Simon Taufel in the middle for this game and Ian Gould is the third. Billy Bowden has fourth umpire duties and Chris Broad is the match referee. | |||
| News from the middle is that Zimbabwe win toss and put Pakistan in | |||
