Northamptonshire won this low-scoring match by four wickets at 3.45 pm on the second day after Worcestershire followed-on 80 runs behind. The visitors had required just 35 runs in their second innings for victory. For the winners, Thompson took 10 wickets in the match for 62 runs. There were 5 fours in Kingston's 62 not out. For the home side, Millward's 8 wickets for 65 runs in the Northamptonshire first innings was statistically the joint second-best innings bowling performance of the season. A M Miller of Wiltshire was to achieve the same analysis against Berkshire at Reading in August.
