Only 65 minutes play possible on the first day owing to rain
This match counted for Northumberland in Championship - but not Durham who did not qualify (individual records count)
This rain-affected return match was drawn. Durham had won when the teams met at Burnmoor in May. Rain delayed play until 4.00 pm on the first day. A shower then stopped play at 4.10 until 5.35 pm when a further 55 minutes play was possible. Walters 102 for the home side contained 14 fours, 2 threes and 5 twos. In the Northumberland first innings, Walters and Cumberlege put on an unbroken partner of 93 runs for the sixth wicket. It was a new record for the sixth wicket for the competition, but was to be surpassed by H Pigg and White for Hertfordshire v Norfolk at Norwich in August. For Durham, F Simpson's 56 included 11 fours.
[Missing: Umpires; in Northumberland 1st inns duration of Walters's 102 not out.]
