Buckinghamshire won at 3.55 pm on the second day by 59 runs. The weather was cold and showery on the first day, but fine on the second. For the winners, there were 5 fours in Saunders's 68. Cobb's wicket-keeping was widely praised in the press reports on the game. His 9 dismissals in a match and 5 in an innings were both new records for the competition, as were his 5 catches in a match, 3 stumpings in an innings and 4 stumpings in a match.
For the visitors, Croome took 11 wickets in the match for 81 runs, including 7 for 28 in the Buckinghamshire first innings. Dauglish kept wicket for Berkshire in the first Buckinghamshire innings and Chapman in the second. In the Buckinghamshire first innings, two of Chapman's three catches were taken at slip and one at mid-off.
