A main feature of this match, which was won by Berkshire by 52 runs at 4.00 pm on the second day, was Barrett taking 9 wickets in the Wiltshire second innings for 42 runs, and 12 wickets in the match for 84 runs. Barrett's 9 for 42 was statistically the joint second best innings bowling performance of the season and was to be equalled the following week by R A Williams for Berkshire v Wiltshire at Reading. For the winners, Nepean had innings of 52, with 8 fours, and 62. For Wiltshire, Overton also took 12 wickets in the match for the home side for 118 runs, including 7 for 63 in the Berkshire second innings. When dismissing Nepean in the Berkshire second innings, Overton took his hundredth wicket in championship matches, joining his colleague Miller who had done so 3 days earlier. The margin of victory was the narrowest during the season for a team setting a run target. All sources listed give the runs conceded bowling in the Berkshire second innings as being 10 in excess.
[Missing: Umpires; part extras breakdown; part fall of wickets; in Berkshire 2nd inns boundaries in Nepean's 62, and runs bowling 10 in excess; in Wiltshire 2nd inns part batting order.]
