This match was drawn, the Cambridgeshire last wicket pair holding out in their second innings, before rain interrupted play at 5.30 pm and then prevented further play after 6.00 pm. Rain had also stopped play early at 6.15 pm on the first day. In the match, Hayward took 10 wickets for 105 runs for the visitors. Butler's 53 for Durham included 4 fours. In the Durham second innings, Butler and Kirtley added 56 runs for the seventh wicket. Early on in the Cambridgeshire second innings W F Whitwell sprained himself and was limited to bowling just 3 overs.
