Northamptonshire followed on 161 runs behind in this drawn return match. For Durham, Bousfield's 155 was scored in 4 hours and included 1 five, 18 fours, 12 threes and 9 twos, and W S Dobson's 53 included 6 fours. Bousfield and W S Dobson put on 103 runs for the Durham fifth wicket. Pool's 50 for Northamptonshire contained 7 fours. The 129 runs conceded by H E Kingston in the Durham innings was the second highest total of the season. Horton was reported as being absent on the afternoon of the second day 'attending a wedding'.
