At one stage Norfolk in their second innings were 119 runs behind with 4 wickets to fall. Garnett and Page then put on 103 runs for the seventh wicket, which was the second highest partnership for that wicket during the year. With two wickets to fall, Norfolk were only 5 runs ahead, but partnerships of 61 for the ninth wicket between Cowles and Blake, and 65 for the tenth wicket between Cowles and Shore, ensured a draw. The tenth wicket partnership of 65 runs was the second highest for that wicket during the season. For Durham, there were 12 fours in Whitwell's 99 and 13 fours in Elliot's 85. They put on 127 for the second wicket, which was the third highest partnership for that wicket during the season. The partnership of 81 runs for the fourth wicket between J F Whitwell and Coulson was the joint second highest for that wicket. For Norfolk, there were 13 fours in Cowles's 82 not out, 10 fours in Garnett's 70, and 2 sixes and 11 fours in Heslop's 68. Rye, the Norfolk umpire, is reported as fielding as substitute for part of the Durham innings because of the indisposition of one or two of the Norfolk players.
