By winning this return match just after 5.00 pm on the second day, Durham completed the 'double' over Cambridgeshire, having also won the game at Sunderland in July. The Durham victory reinforced their bid for the Championship title by sustaining their 100 per cent winning record for completed matches. For Durham, there was 1 five and 4 fours in J F Whitwell's 69. Prest's 56 for Cambridgeshire included 4 fours.
[Missing: In Durham 2nd inns who kept wicket for Cambridgeshire when Watts bowled.]
