This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project - research is continuing on this scorecard which can be expected to change.
Having been put in to bat by Yorkshire 2nd XI, Northumberland won this return match at 3.50 pm on the second day, after enforcing the follow-on. The game between the two teams at Jesmond in June had also been won by Northumberland. For the winners, there were 9 fours in both Clayton's 86 and Chambers's 67. In the Northumberland first innings, they put on 149 runs for the opening wicket. It was the third highest partnership for that wicket during the season. The 4 catches held by Elsey in the Yorkshire second innings equalled the Championship record by a fielder achieved on 13 previous occasions. The 5 catches he held in the match were the most during the season, equalled by two others.
