Berkshire won this return match by 180 runs at 5.00 pm on the second day. The Berkshire second-innings declaration had set Glamorgan a second innings victory target of 317 runs in 3½ hours. Glamorgan had won the game between the two sides at Cardiff in July. For the winners, Barker took 10 wickets in the match for 128 runs. Williams played two innings over fifty with 79, including 10 fours, and 63 containing 9 fours. Watts scored 54 which also included 9 fours. In the Berkshire second innings, Blundell and Watts added 77 for the seventh wicket. For the visitors, Rees top-scored with 55 not out containing 5 fours. In the Glamorgan first innings, the debutants Ellis and Waite added 52 for the eighth wicket. In the match 27 batsmen were dismissed caught, the joint most during the season. During the two Glamorgan innings, 15 batsmen were dismissed caught, an occurrence repeated on two other occasions during the year. The 6 catches held by Watts in the Glamorgan first innings, and the 8 in the match, were both the most by a wicket-keeper during the season and new championship records.
