Berkshire won this return match by 138 runs on the second day. The match between the two sides at Exeter in July had also been won by Berkshire. For the winners Belcher top scored in both innings, his 87 in the second innings being the only half-century of the match. He added 100 runs with Woodburn for the fourth wicket in the second innings. Lockhart took 6 wickets for 62 runs in the first Devon innings. He was absent when due to bat in the second innings but arrived during the luncheon interval and was able to bowl in the afternoon. For Devon Ball top scored with 45. Light was unable to field in both of the Berkshire innings due to a damaged foot and Croom, the groundsman, fielded as substitute.
