This rain-affected match was drawn with there being no decision on first innings so no points were awarded. Rain delayed the start on the first day until 3.55 pm, when a fresh pitch was cut, and halted play for the day at 5.35 pm. On the second day, there was a 20 minute rain interruption when the Northumberland innings had reached 85, but only two minutes play was possible before the rains came again at ten minutes past four and at five the match was abandoned. For the visitors, there was 1 six and 8 fours in Twigg's 72, whilst Briggs's 71 contained 7 fours. For Northumberland Norbury scored 58 not out which included 3 sixes and 6 fours. In the Staffordshire innings Milne took 6 wickets for 69 runs.
