On the opening day Queensland were about to commence their first innings at 5.12 p.m. when rain began falling and there was no further play for the day, seventy-eight minutes being lost. On day two bad light ended play at 6.26 p.m. and four minutes was lost. On the final day bad light ended play thirteen minutes early at 6.17 p.m. The New South Wales second innings declaration left Queensland with a target of 281 runs to win the match with 275 minutes of play remaining. In a sound defensive effort JM Flynn and PJ Nicholson most certainly saved the game for Queensland bating just over two hours together to add 51 for the seventh wicket. On the second day of the match DAH Johnston kept wicket for New South Wales Colts from after lunch due to an injury to MJ Cox. The Sydney Gregory Cup was in contention in this match and as a result of their first innings lead New South Wales retained the Cup.
