Lancashire 1875-76
Born 27.4.1842 Old Park, Shropshire.
Died 23.9.1910 Donnington Wood, Lilleshall, Shropshire.

5ft seven inches tall and weighing 10 stone. He was a lower order left-hand batsman and a left-hand round-arm fast bowler. He usually fielded at point or slip.

His professional engagements were three years at Cambridge University and later at Wolverhampton. He was at the Sefton Club, Liverpool from 1871 to 1879.

On 14th and 15th July 1873 he played for Staffordshire against the M.C.C. at Lord's, going in last and scoring 1 not out and 0 and bowling 26 four-ball overs without success.

On 28th and 29th May 1875 he played for Lancashire against Derbyshire at Old Trafford, scoring 2 and 0 and taking 0/28 and 2/11. Two days later, on 31st May and 1st June he played against the M.C.C. and Ground at Lord's, going in last and scoring 0 and 2, and taking no wickets for 37 runs. The following year he played against Kent at Castleton, Rochdale, and scored 5 and took one wicket. That was the end of his brief first-class career.

At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at 9 Barracks, Lilleshall, Shropshire, aged 38, a coal miner, with his wife Mary A., aged 33, two daughters Jane E. aged 11, and Lucy aged 7, and three sons Jphn aged 9, Enoch aged 4 and Alick aged 1.
