Born 10.12.1837 Cross Cliffe, Glossop, Derbyshire.
Died 7.1.1888 Glossop, Derbyshire.

A member of the Glossop Cricket Club, in Derbyshire, but only just! His only first-class match was for Lancashire against Yorkshire at Middlesborough, on 2nd and 3rd September 1867.

On 14th and 15th September 1874 he appeared for Twenty-two of Glossop against the United England Eleven at Glossop, being caught and bowled by W.G.Grace for 0 in the first innings and 3 not out in the second.

He was the father of William Walton, of Glossop, who played for Derbyshire in 1867 and 1893

The 1881 Census finds him living at 7 High Street, Glossop, aged 43 a cotton weaver manager with his wife Elizabeth aged 43, their two sons, William aged 18 a general clerk and Fred aged 16 also a general clerk and daughter Edith Ann aged 11.
