• Talha Jubair’s first over (second of the match) consisted of 10 balls as he bowled two wides and two no-balls.
• The first nine runs scored by the West Indies were all extras.
• Richardo Powell (51) reached his fifty off just 30 balls – the fastest fifty by any batsman in this World Cup . It was also the fastest by any West Indian in World Cup. Brian Lara had reached his fifty in 45 balls during his knock of 111 against South Africa at Karachi in 1996.
• Powell’s innings is the highest for West Indies in World Cup at batting position seven. The previous highest was the unbeaten 34 by Carl Hooper against India at Wellington in 1992. Keith Boyce had also scored a 34 against Australia in the Lord’s final in 1975 at number seven.
• Powell also became the first batsman in ODIs to make a fifty at number seven against Bangladesh. The previous highest was the unbeaten 49 by Pakistani Abdul Razzaq at Dhaka in 2002.
• Manjural Islam (3-62) became the first Bangladeshi bowler to capture three wickets in a ODI match against West Indies. The previous best was the 2-45 by Enamul Hoque at Dhaka in 1999.
• Manjural also becomes the only second Bangladeshi after Khaled Mahmud (3-31 v Pakistan at Northampton in 1999) to take a three-wicket haul in the World Cup.
• This was the first time in seven matches Bangladesh bowlers were able to restrict the West Indies to a score of less than 250 runs.
• This was the fifth World Cup match to be declared as a ‘no-result”. The India-Sri Lanka match at Mackay in 1992; the England-Pakistan match at Adelaide in 1992; the Zimbabwe-Kenya match at Patna in 1996 and the New Zealand-Zimbabwe match at Leeds in 1999 are the other World Cup matches to be declared as ‘no-result’.
• Bangladesh now has not registered a win in last 29 matches. They have lost 27, while two matches were abandoned.
