- The second wicket partnership of 178 runs between Wavell Hinds and Brian Lara is West Indies second highest against Australia for any wicket only behind 205 run-partnership between Desmond Haynes and Viv Richards at Melbourne in 1979-80 (4) for the second wicket.
- Michael Clarke was dismissed for the first time since his debut aggregating 208 runs in four innings.
- Mervyn Dillon has now taken 18 wickets in 10 matches against Australia in West Indies which puts him at level with Craig McDermott as the leading wicket-taker in Australia- West Indies matches in the Caribbeans.
- Australia lost a match after winning 21 consecutive matches from 11-01-2003 to 24-05-2003.
- The victory also snapped a losing 11-game sequence against Australia stretching back to its last win by eight wickets in Bridgetown on 25-04-1999.
- Brian Lara won his 29th Man of the Match award. He has now come at par with Sri Lankas Aravinda de Silva. Now only Indias Sachin Tendulkar (48), Sri Lankas Sanath Jayasuriya (36) and West Indian Viv Richards (31) have won more awards than Lara.
- Lara has now won a MoM award in every 13.55 matches at an average. Among the players who have won atleast 10 awards, Lara has the fifth best frequency. Only Viv Richards (16.58), Gordon Greendige (15.63), Sachin Tendulkar (15.29) and Martin Crowe (13.99) have better frequency than Lara.
