  • Jerome Taylor (right handed batsman and right arm fast bowler) was making his international debut for West Indies. He became 117th player to represent West Indies in ODIs.
  • At 18 years 354 days, Taylor became the youngest to play for West Indies in ODIs. The previous record was on the name of Marlon Samuels who was 19 years 242 days old on his debut against Sri Lanka at Nairobi (Gymkhana) on 04-10-2000.
  • Marlon Samuels was playing his 50th match. He became 34th West Indian and 274th player overall to do so.
  • Marvan Atapattu was playing his 200th match. He became eighth Sri Lankan and 36th player overall to do so.
  • The victory was West Indies’ first over Sri Lanka in last six matches.
  • West Indies now have a remarkable record on this ground. Out of the 13 matches played here, they have won 12! Only match that West Indies lost on this ground was against Pakistan on 30-03-1993.
  • Samuels was winning Man of the Match award for the third time in his career.
