CROFTON, Edward Hugh.

Born at Plymouth, Devon, 7th September 1854.
Died at Kilmainham, Dublin, Ireland, 15th May 1882.
A military man he played for Hampshire in three first-class matches in 1881. He was in Ireland the following year when he died aged 27.
The 1881 Census finds him living at 16 Christ Church Road, Winchester, Hampshire, aged 26 and a Lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade, together with his wife, Julia aged 25 born in Dublin, and two sons Hugh aged 2 born Dublin and Moyan aged 1 born Winchester. Also present is Amy Miller aged 28 born Birmingham, an unmarried sister-in-law. There are four servants.
