by Dr.A.K.Hignell

Player:HW Vaughan-Thomas

Hugh Vaughan-Thomas was a talented young athlete in the early 1930`s, and he showed great promise at cricket, hockey and tennis whilst at both Swansea Grammar School, and Exeter College, Oxford.

In 1933 he played for Glamorgan`s Club and Ground team whilst on his summer vacation from Oxford, and with captain Maurice Turnbull eager to blood young Welsh talent, Vaughan-Thomas was drafted into Glamorgan`s side for their Championship match against Gloucestershire at the Wagonworks ground in Gloucester.

It proved to be his only first-class appearance as after coming down from Oxford he became a schoolmaster in Scotland.
