Bert Hodges was a leading batsman for the Newport club and Monmouthshire in the late 1920`s and 1930`s. He made his first-class debut in 1930 playing for Wales against the M.C.C. at Lord`s

 

Hodges played for Glamorgan 2nd XI in their Minor County matches in 1935, and the following year he represented Glamorgan on his home ground at Rodney Parade in the Championship match against Gloucestershire.
