Brief profile of Simon Dennis
by Dr.A.K.Hignell

Player:SJ Dennis

Simon Dennis was the nephew of the late Sir Len Hutton, and he played for his native Yorkshire between 1980 and 1988, before joining Glamorgan in 1989. During his time in South Wales, the left-arm seamer was handicapped by niggling injuries, but he still proved to be a lively bowler, and took 60 first-class wicket for the Welsh county before retiring at the end of the 1991 season to take up a career in computing.

Dennis had shown rich promise as a schoolboy fast bowler, playing for England Schools and Young England against their Australian counterparts in 1980. He won his Yorkshire cap in 1983 after several useful performances, especially in one-day games as Yorkshire won the Sunday League title. Dennis also played for Orange Free State in 1982/83 and went on the M.C.C. tours to North America in 1982 and Argentina in 1990.
