ROBINSON, George Edward.
Amateur.
Born at Deytheur, Oswestry, Shropshire, 13th March 1861.
Died at Acton, Staffordshire, 30th November 1944.
The son of the Rev. Edward Robinson, vicar of Penrhos, Montgomeryshire, educated at Burton Grammar School, he went up to Jesus College Oxford, where he played cricket for the University 1881-83, winning his blue all three years. His county cricket was for Shropshire, for which county he played 38 times 1880-1903. He also played for Montgomeryshire. His club cricket was with the Oswestry Club. He became the headmaster of the preparatory school, Cambridge House, Castlemere, Rochdale, Lancashire.
At the time of the 1881 Census he was living with his parents, Rev Edward Robinson, aged 55, born at Orton, Westmorland, vicar of Penros, and Lydia, aged 54, born at Ellesmere, Shropshire, at Penros Vicarage, Meifod, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He was aged 20, born at Penrhos, an undergraduate of Oxford. He had two unmarried sisters, Frances Maria, aged 26, born at Birkenhead, Cheshire, and Susan, aged 14, born at Penrhos, and two unmarried brothers, William H.W., aged 18, born at Penrhos, a bank clerk, and John Farrer, aged 10, born at Penrhos. There are three boarder/scholars, boys, two aged 12 and one 15. There are also two domestic servants.
