TREVOR, Arthur Hill.
Amateur.
Born at Fort William, Calcutta, India, 14th November 1858.
Died at Newton House, Elvanfoot, Lanarkshire, Scotland, 27th September 1924.
The only son of Charles Brierly Trevor, of Warrior Square, St Leonards-on-Sea, late of the Indian Civil Service. He was educated at Winchester College, where he was a member of the cricket eleven in 1877. He went up to Christ Church College, Oxford, and played for the University cricket eleven 1879-81, winning his blue 1880-81. He played in a total of 31 first-class matches, including 12 for Sussex. In 1884 he was called to the Bar at the Inner Temple and went onto the South Eastern Circuit and the Sussex Sessions until in 1905 he was appointed Secretary to the Commissioners in Lunacy. In 1907 he became a Legal Commissioner and during the rest of his life continued to be an active member of the Board.
At the time of the 1881 Census he was living at 26 Warrior Square, Hastings, Sussex, with his father Charles, aged 68 born Hull in Yorkshire, a retired Bengal civil servant, and his mother Fanny, aged 49 born at Dinapore, India. He was unmarried, aged 22 born at Calcutta, and an undergraduate of Oxford University. His unmarried sister, Clara, aged 28 born in Calcutta, is also present. There are four domestic servants.
