Only 25 minutes and 39 balls were possible on the first day due to a torrential downpour just after midday. The outfield was left completely flooded leaving the umpires with no choice but to abandon play at 2.20pm. Play was initially delayed for 1 hour due to early morning rain while the ground staff cleared the covers. Kent moved along to 15 without loss having been put into bat.
